Luella Gross Goldberg ’58
- 1950s

In 1954, I arrived at Wellesley from Minneapolis with my twin sister, Linda Gross Cohen, having never seen the College, and never imagining I would be starting a family tradition of involvement and signing a one-of-a-kind Wellesley diploma. Following our Wellesley graduation, Linda and I each produced a baby girl destined for Wellesley’s class of 1983, Laura Cohen Koller and Ellen Goldberg Luger. I had another Wellesley daughter, Martha Goldberg Aronson, class of 1989. Wellesley diplomas are signed by the president and chair of Wellesley’s Board of Trustees. I was chair 1985-1993, and thus signed Martha’s diploma. We believe she is the only Wellesley graduate in the history of Wellesley College to have a diploma signed by her mother! In addition, both daughters served (Ellen) or are serving (Martha) as trustees of Wellesley. Who could have imagined?
