Selection Process
In April 2019, the classes of 2017, 2018, and 2019 will elect a new Young Alumnae Trustee who will serve from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022.

  • Those eligible to participate in this year's nomination and election process are the members of the current graduating class (2019) and the members of the two most recent alumnae classes (2017 and 2018).

  • Those who are interested in serving as the Young Alumnae Trustee should complete the Young Alumnae Trustee application. Faculty, staff, and other alumnae can and should reach out to potential candidates to encourage them to run by sharing the application link. There is no additional form to nominate someone else. The application to begin the process must be submitted directly by the young alumna who is committed to serve if elected.

  • In order to be considered as a candidate for the Young Alumnae Trustee, all nominees must complete an application that includes responses to three short answer questions, two letters of recommendation, and the applicant’s resume. At least one of the applicant’s recommendations must be from a current Wellesley student, an alumna, or a member of Wellesley's faculty or staff.

  • The three short answer questions on the application are:

  1. What is your vision for Wellesley College in the next 10 years and how do you see the Board of Trustees helping to shape that? (150 word limit)

  2. What experience, knowledge and attributes do you have that would make you an effective Young Alumnae Trustee? (150 word limit)

  3. Why would you like to be a member of the Wellesley College Board of Trustees? (100 word limit)

  • All application materials are due by December 31, 2018.

  • The Nominating Committee of the Wellesley College Alumnae Association (WCAA) Board will review all nominations and select a short list of nominees to interview.

  • A final group of 5-7 candidates will be on the 2019 election ballot. No campaigning is allowed, please see the full electioneering policy. The ballot will be distributed electronically in April 2019 to all those eligible to vote (members of the classes of 2017, 2018, and 2019). The winning candidate will be the one who receives the most votes.
