Expanding the Definition of Women in Technology: Career Chat with Cecilia Harvey ’00, Founder and Chair of Tech Women Today (Webinar, June 2023)

Working in technology does not necessarily mean working at a tech firm, knowing how to code, or majoring in computer science. In this webinar, Cecilia Harvey ’00 shares with Wellesley alums her mission to inspire more women to feel excited about the enormous career potential in technology. Cecilia discusses the value of expanding the definition of what it means to be a “woman in technology” and shares how alums might consider a diverse range of technology career opportunities related to their own career experiences, strengths, and skills.

Cecilia is an award-winning tech founder, author, and entrepreneur. She is the Chief Information Officer at City and Guilds, a global leader in skills development for governments, organizations, and education centers. She is also the founder and chair of Tech Women Today, a global platform to showcase women in technology and a resource for non-technical female entrepreneurs who want to understand how to leverage technology to grow and scale their businesses. Starting on Wall Street, her 20-year career in banking and technology has spanned senior positions with Morgan Stanley, Barclays Capital, and IBM Consulting. She also is the former COO of Citigroup Markets and Securities Services Technology. Cecilia appeared in Forbes “Leading Ladies of Tech,” British Vogue’s “Forces for Change” campaign, 2021 Marie Claire UK Women in Tech feature, and was a 2021 WIRED Innovate Keynote Speaker. Cecilia is passionate about her mission of fostering diversity and changing the landscape of technology to catalyze innovation, disruption, and inclusive thought. She majored in political science at Wellesley and has a countdown app for her upcoming 25th Wellesley reunion.
