Pre-Med Scholars (First-Year Program)
The Pre-Med Scholars program supports Wellesley's inclusive excellence initiative, preparing students for careers in medicine by offering connections, information and opportunities during the crucial first year of college. The goal of the cohort program is to support students from low-income and first generation backgrounds in successfully preparing for and entering medical careers.

Why First-Years?

Struggles with academics and the hidden curriculum present greater obstacles for students who don't have access to mentorship in the critical first stages of college.

Research shows that some students too often exit the medical school pipeline in their first year of college.
Application Process
Applicants are closed for the 2023-2024 academic year. Please check back in the summer of 2024 for more information.
Who can apply?
- Incoming first year students interested in pursuing a career in medicine
- Students seeking extra support as they navigate pre-med at the college
- Students applying to this program must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- First-generation college student
- High financial need

This year's program includes a cohort of eleven students who meet weekly throughout the academic year and are supported by a Faculty Mentor, Health Professions Advisors, and Peer Mentors.
