The Suzy Newhouse Center is delighted to announce a two-day (October 20-21, 2017) international symposium on Education and Gender Equality, organized in close partnership with the French Consulate of Boston and Sciences Po, Paris. A wide range of intellectuals, scholars, artists, activists, and others from business and government, coming from across the globe, will share their experiences regarding the challenge of gender equality in their respective fields of work and service.
Our aim in bringing together this diverse, international group is to provide an opportunity for collective thought in order to offer solutions and allow for the sharing of good practices to further gender equality across disciplines and contexts. The symposium will offer various occasions for the audience to mingle with one another and interact with speakers. The Newhouse Center has integrated some of its programming with the symposium in order to bring a dazzling range of intellectuals to campus. Angela Davis, activist, professor, and writer, for example, is part of the symposium and also in our Distinguished Thinkers Program
. Indian filmmaker, Mira Nair, will present a film and take questions in our Jordan lecture series (see below). Other speakers, such as Prudence Carter, and Anne Balsamo, who feature in the Newhouse program are on symposium panels as well (see below). Click here
