For my project I created a map of the different parks and natural spaces I explored in my region. Most of my independent project was spent exploring, traveling, and feeding my curiosity. I had a lot of fun going to different parts of Texas either with my friends, my family, or “riding solo.” Especially during uncertain times, like we are in, being outside felt like an escape. I could think, reflect, meditate, and just “be.” Being outside I found an extension of myself. Growing up I never felt like I had a place in society or in my family. I was always an outsider, and craved for a place I felt myself. What I stumbled upon being in nature is that it belongs to no one really. Nature is free and does what it wants. However, it does let humans and other organisms cohabitat. It lets people roam and nurture the land and also feel free themselves. Outside I was able to feel free and comfortable.
