The online home for Exhibitions in the Wellesley College Art Department

The Wellesley College Art Department hosts several formal exhibition spaces-- the Jewett Art Gallery, the Jewett Sculpture Court, and the Jewett Hallway Galleries-- in addition to a number of display and provisional installation spaces throughout the Jewett Arts Center and Pendleton West buildings. In the course of a normal year, these spaces are host to a number of exhibitions, typically a mix of shows by visiting professional artists and our own student artists. At the end of each academic year, all our spaces are turned over to the Senior and Thesis Exhibition, as our graduating seniors showcase their work.

In March 2020, our Spring semester was interrupted by a worldwide pandemic. At the moment when campus shut down, we had a photography exhibition on view in the Sculpture Court, and a solo show by an international visiting artist that had just been installed in the Gallery (in fact, the artist completed installation on our last day of in-person classes). Our seniors, many of whom had been working on their projects all year long, were suddenly unable to exhibit their work in the format they had planned.

This page offers a space to experience this work.
