Clinical Training Program Application Process

This is a 9-10 month training program consisting of 3-4 days per week; Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm, with Wednesday & Thursday being required full days.  The primary focus of the training is to provide counseling services to Wellesley College students.  The experience includes individual and group counseling, workshops, outreach and educational programming, as well as, consultation with members of the college community.  Every intern/trainee is required to participate in two activities per semester, which may occur after hours or weekends.

Components of the Training Program include individual clinical supervision, dual supervision, group supervision, several training seminars, clinical team meeting, a trainee support group, and additional opportunities for participation in larger activities of the Stone Center and the Wellesley Centers for Women.

Application Process

The following positions are available for 2020-2021 Academic Year:
Two William James Consortium Internship
One Doctoral-Level, Practicum Psychology training position
Two 2nd year Master of Social Work Clinical training positions for students enrolled in MSW programs

Psychology:

William James Consortium Internship:  

This is a ten-month placement for up to two years from mid-August through mid-June; 25 hours a week over three-to-four days with Wednesday and Thursday being required, full days from 8:30am-4:30pm.  Interns will be required to see students with emergency needs and there will be a progressive increase of their emergency responsibilities, they will also work with the disability office to administer a minimum of 3 testings per year and will be responsible to present workshops to incoming trainees in their 2nd year.

Three letters of recommendation highlighting clinical experience: placement supervisors highly recommended.

Practicum Trainee:

This is a doctoral-level, nine-month placement, from September - May; 24 hours a week over three-to-four days with Wednesday and Thursday being required, full days from 8:30am-4:30pm.

Social Work:

Social Work Trainees:  

This is a 2nd year Master of Social Work, nine-month placement from September - May; 24 hours a week over three-to-four days, with Wednesday and Thursday being required, full days from 8:30am-4:30pm.

The deadline for receipt of all Social Work application materials, including all 3 references, after being approved by their school, is Thursday, January 30th, 2020.  

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

After a review of the written materials, interviews will be scheduled in January and February.  Final decisions will be made in February.  Due to our required clearing process, these positions will not be finalized until late Spring.
