Clinical Training Program Application Process

The Clinical Training Program at the Stone Center Counseling Service is a 9 to 10 month training program consisting of 3 to 4 days per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, with Wednesday & Thursday being required.  The primary focus of the training is to provide counseling services to Wellesley College students. The experience includes individual and group counseling, workshops, outreach and educational programming, as well as consultation with members of the college community. Every intern is expected to participate in at least two educational/outreach activities per semester, which may occur after hours or weekends.

Components of the Training Program include individual clinical supervision, dual supervision (WJC), group supervision, several training seminars, clinical team meeting, a trainee lunch support group, and additional opportunities such as the Division of Student Life meetings and educational workshops provided by the Wellesley Centers for Women.

Application Process for Academic Year 2024-2025:

  • Two William James College Consortium Intern training positions

  • One Doctoral-Level, Practicum Counseling or Clinical Psychology training position

  • Two 2nd year Master of Social Work and/or Mental Health Counselor Clinical training positions, enrolled in accredited programs

 

William James Consortium Interns

Training year application process begins in the Fall of 2025

This is a ten-month placement for up to two years from mid-August through mid-June, 24 hours a week over 3 to 4 days (full/part days), with Wednesday and Thursday being required. Hours of operation are 8:30am-4:30pm. Interns will be offering primarily individual counseling, along with groups and campus outreach. They will be required to see students in need of urgent counseling, and there will be a progressive increase of their emergency responsibilities throughout the course of the internship. There will also be an opportunity to administer neuropsychological testing each year.

  • A cover letter explaining your interest in this particular training program
  • A resume or vita
  • Three letters of recommendation: two recommendations highlighting clinical experience; previous placement supervisors highly recommended, and one WJC faculty member recommendation
  • A current transcript (unofficial accepted)
  • Four, 500 word documents & your sample assessment report, together in one pdf file, as an Attachment in Workday, with your name clearly written on each page
  • APPIC Professional Conduct Form

Counseling or Clinical Psychology Practicum Trainee

This is a doctoral-level, nine-month placement, from September to May, 24 hours a week, over 3-4 days, with Wednesday & Thursday (full or part days) required. Please reach out if you have questions about the required days, as we can make accomodations.

  • A cover letter explaining your interest in this particular training program;
  • A resume or vita;
  • Three letters of recommendation highlighting clinical experience - two clinical references from your previous placement supervisors and one academic reference; 
  • A current transcript (unofficial accepted)

After a review of completed applications, viable candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview. Interviews will take place in January & February. Decisions will be made in February. Selections will be finalized pending the clearing process.

 

Social Work & Mental Health Counseling Interns

This is a 2nd Year Master's Level Training, requiring previous clinical placement/experience. This is a nine-month placement from September to May, 24 hours a week, over 3-4 days, with Wednesday & Thursday (full or part days) required. Please reach out if you have questions about the required days, as we can make accommodations.

Complete application materials must include:

  • A cover letter explaining your interest in this particular training program of choice;
  • A resume or vita;
  • Three letters of recommendation highlighting clinical experience: one clinical reference from your previous placement supervisor and two academic references;  
  • A current transcript (unofficial accepted)
