McLean Mental Health Research Summer Program (MMHRSP) - A 10-week paid neuroscience and clinical psychology research program for promising young Black, Indigenous, and underrepresented People of Color (BIPOC) who are current undergraduate students interested in exploring mental health research as a possible career. MMHRSP Fellows will conduct hands-on, mentored research at McLean Hospital - Harvard Medical School’s primary psychiatric teaching hospital. Fellows will participate in professional development workshops and community outreach activities. Our goal is to provide research opportunities, committed mentorship, and academic networking to increase diversity in mental health neuroscience research.
Brigham and Women's Hospital STARS Program - The Summer Training in Academic Research and Scholarship (STARS) Program is a distinguished summer research opportunity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for underrepresented in medicine (URiM)* undergraduate rising juniors and seniors, and first-year medical students with a strong interest in pursuing advanced careers as research scientists, physicians and/or health care professionals. The program recruits students from around the US into an eight-week mentored summer program. Students participate in intensive hands-on training in research methods and practice directly in the labs of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School’s leading researchers.
Washington University in St Louis Endure Summer Program - The Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) ENDURE summer research program prepares undergraduates from diverse backgrounds for neuroscience PhD programs. We combine outstanding research training, a rigorous curriculum and an empowering support system so participants thrive on their path to graduate school and beyond. With support from the NIH Blueprint ENDURE initiative and Washington University, accepted students are funded for up to two summers and trips to the annual Society for Neuroscience meeting. Overall, the program embeds students in a network of neuroscientists and enhances the success of trainees towards our goal of increasing diversity in neuroscience.
Washington University in St Louis BioMedRAP - Washington University in St. Louis Endure Summer Program The BioMedRAP selects participants based on academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to diversity. We seek applicants who have challenged themselves and excelled academically; demonstrate experience overcoming substantial educational, cultural or economic obstacles; are first-generation college students, or can demonstrate a strong interest in bringing diverse people together. We encourage applications from individuals who come from rural or inner-city areas and individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in biomedical research — specifically African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, women and those with disabilities. Applications also are encouraged from international students currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the United States.
University of Alabama SPIN Program - University of Alabama is seeking to train students traditionally under-represented in STEM careers, first-generation college students, students without extensive neuroscience research opportunities at their home institutions, and students with Ph.D. focused career aspirations.
Johns Hopkins SIP Program - Summer Internship Program (SIP) support students from underrepresented racial and economic backgrounds and students with disabilities to conduct research in laboratories at Johns Hopkins as part of an immersive 10-week program. The Department of Neuroscience and the Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute support these summer internships for undergraduate students considering graduate studies in neuroscience and related areas.
Johns Hopkins PREP Program - Post-baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) provides post-baccalaureate students from underrepresented groups or from disadvantaged backgrounds with the support to work full-time in a laboratory at Hopkins. PREP students spend one or two years strengthening their research background and increasing their competitiveness for PhD applications.
Summer Neuroscience Internship Program (SNIP) at the University of Florida - SNIP aims to support college students from diverse backgrounds who seek to pursue doctoral (Ph.D.) training in neuroscience and prepare for rewarding careers in biomedical research education and enterprise.
