Preservation

Planning for the preservation of library materials and the on-going work to repair and conserve them is part of the Information Resources group's work.

These important services include protection & repair of library materials, pamphlet binding, preservation photocopying, and mass deacidification. Also as part of its work the IRG administers systems for monitoring environmental conditions in the libraries, disaster preparedness planning, security, care and handling procedures, and provides staff and user preservation training.

For information about current preservation/conservation activities in the Wellesley College Library, please contact Emily K. Bell, Collections Conservator, 781.283.3866.

The Wellesley College Library is committed to the preservation of electronic journals, and participates in Portico.

The Wellesley College Library, through the Boston Library Consortium, is taking part in the Open Content Alliance book scanning project.
