Secure SSL VPN
The Wellesley College Secure SSL VPN is available to faculty and staff at Wellesley College who have completed the Data Security training. It is used for off-campus access to both normal on-campus resources as well as secure resources that require the Admin Firewall. The Secure SSL VPN additionally requires that your computer has anti-virus software installed and up to date.
To connect to the SSL VPN, please visit https://vpn.wellesley.edu/secure After logging in with your Wellesley Domain Account, your browser should launch and install the Cisco AnyConnect software and then automatically log you into the SSL VPN. You do not need to launch the Admin Firewall to access secure resources.
To disconnect from the SSL VPN, right-click on the AnyConnect Client program in your notification area (Windows) or menubar (Mac OS X) and select Quit or Disconnect.
This requires Java to be enabled in your web browser. If it failed to launch the AnyConnect client, test that your web browser has Java enabled by visiting http://javatester.org Click "Test the version of Java your browser is using" in the orange table in the top center of the website. Your web browser may ask you if it is ok to run Java on this website, allow it.
If Java is not detected, please either follow the Windows or Mac OS X directions to install Java 6 on your computer, or follow the directions below to install the Cisco AnyConnect Client and connect manually.
Secure SSL VPN Information
The Secure SSL VPN system is only available to faculty and staff at Wellesley College who have completed the online Data Security Training , as required by the College's Written Information Security Program and Remote Access Policy. This training is available in MyWellesley, under Employment Services > Administrivia. Once completed, the Secure SSL VPN administrators will grant you access within one business day.
Your computer must also meet the hardware and software requirements outlined in the Computing Resources for Remote Access policy, as well as have anti-virus software installed and updated.
Your computer must be off-campus to configure and use the Secure SSL VPN. However, the Computing Help Desk in the Clapp Library has an off-campus network connection to test the Secure SSL VPN if you want to bring in your laptop computer.
